Chia Jam

Who doesn’t love jam? Traditional jam is so high in refined sugar that it can’t be enjoyed as a daily part of your diet. We discovered that chia seeds make a great alternative to sugar in thickening jam – so you get that same jam texture but with none of the bad stuff. This simple 4 ingredient jam is nutritious and delicious and oh so simple to make at home.


250g fruit of choice (we love strawberries, raspberries or blueberries)

2-3 tbsp Chia Bia Whole White Chia Seeds 

2 tbsp maple syrup

2 tbsp lemon juice


  1. Wash and chop fruit to preferred size – bigger chunks means a chunkier jam!
  2. Place the fruit into a saucepan over a medium heat and stir constantly. The fruit will begin to break down in its own juices so there is no need to add water.
  3. Once it has completely broken down you can take off the heat. Mash at this point if you prefer a finer consistency jam.
  4. Add the lemon juice, maple syrup and chia seeds and combine well. Allow to stand for at least 5 minutes to cool before transferring to a jar.

Keep stored in the fridge and use within 3 days.
